CAR-RIDER PLAN

  • Please complete a car-rider permission form for each of your children who will be car riders this year. Forms will be available throughout the year in the main office.

  • The form that you turn in will be in effect for the duration of the year unless we receive further written notice from you. Once the form is on file, you do not need to come into the office to sign out your child. Your child will be designated as a car rider. He/she will be called to the car-rider area in the cafeteria before first load buses are called.

  • As soon as we receive your car-rider permission form you will be given two blue numbered dolphins. One must be displayed in your car window for identification when you come to pick up your child, who will then be released to your car by the staff member supervising the car riders.

  • When you come to pick up your car rider please enter the driveway on the right side of the school, through the parking lot in front of the school (map on reverse). Stay in line. Stay in your car. Your child will be released to you at the back of the parking lot. Do not pass cars in front of you. Please drive slowly. Remember school buses have the right of way. The safety of our children is of the utmost importance.

IMPORTANT CHANGE! “Occasional” End of the Day Car Rider Procedure

We realize that it is occasionally necessary to pick up your child for doctor’s appointments, and other after-school events. In an effort to ensure the safety of the students in the building at this very busy time of day we will maintain this procedure:

  • NO CHILD will be picked up at the office after 3:00.
  • Sometime during the day you must obtain a “Temporary Car Rider Pass” from the office. The secretaries will require ID before issuing the pass.
  • Your child will be called to car riders at the end of the day and report to the cafeteria.
  • Once you have your pass, you will join the “car riders” lane and pick up your child at the side of the building. At that point you will turn in the pass to the person assisting the students to their cars. Children will not be released without the pass.
  • In the effort to increase student-security, no one will be met at the front doors at dismissal.

Car riders must be picked up between 3:25 and 3:45 p.m. Students who have not been picked up during this time must be signed out for release from the office.
